AND HIS PIANO READINGS
I grew up Seventh-Day Adventist. And they believe in their miracles as well as in their Biblical inerrancy. I read the Bible closely and tried to make theorems from this huge compendium of potential axioms. It was not always easy.
I was classically trained in piano starting when I was very young, playing my first piano piece in public when I was 4 years old. I wasn’t a hard-driving kid — if the effort to fun ratio was too high, then I didn’t want to bother, so my parents made sure to sign me up with low key, sweet teachers.
I didn’t have any inkling of my intuitive side. Not only did such notions go against my scientific world view, it also butted up against my “that’s Satan” fear I learned through my conservative Christian upbringing. Despite all of that, starting in my 20s, I would come to know things that I had no business knowing, and even though they were always innocuous, relatively inconsequential things, it got my attention.
As I got older, this kind of “knowing what I had no business knowing” happened often enough that, as I entered my 40s, I decided that I needed to consult someone who knew about this aspect of life. I went online and did some reading, looked at things like healing schools, Reiki centers, and intuition development courses. Nothing felt right until I happened upon an advertisement for an intuition development course in a bilingual newspaper (Japanese and English) that used to be published out of Denver, and my intuition went “Bingo! That’s the one.” And so, in 2005 I studied with clairvoyant Naomi Horii for a year, and began my energy healing apprenticeship with Michael Tamura.
I gave my first piano readings in 2006 with my wife, Deb, the patient subject. Soon I began taking my electronic keyboard to metaphysical fairs and doing readings using two sets of headphones. Now, I’ve given hundreds of piano readings to many, many dear people, and I feel more passion than ever for exercising this gift. I’m even giving readings and energy healings now, sans piano, both in person and over the phone/remotely.
And yeah, I’m still an analytical fellow, often working as a computer programmer and consultant. But I’m thankful to have discovered my intuitive side which enables me to bring joy, fulfillment, and relief to some folks through my piano readings.
I look forward to sharing your music with you.
John shares his story…
I was a deeply analytical little fellow…
My parents tell a story about me when I was two or so years old. They brought a calendar home that, in addition to showing months and days, numbered all the days from 1 to 365. I took that calendar and went into the corner and counted the numbers for hours.
